Convent Man Sentenced on Narcotics and Weapon Charges

          On July 10, 2017, Quinton Bolding of 6150 Babin Wilson St. Convent, LA., age 40, pled guilty to the charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Bolding was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Shawn Bush, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. This guilty plea stems after narcotics agents with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office spotted an illegally parked vehicle in a Gonzales neighborhood. 

          On May 21, 2014, while conducting operations in a high crime area, narcotics agents with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office observed a car parked illegally in the roadway of a Gonzales neighborhood with multiple subjects standing around the vehicle. Upon interviewing these subjects and learning of narcotics activity going on, agents obtained search warrants for the residence in which the vehicle was in front of as well as several parked vehicles in the driveway area of the residence. During the search of one of the vehicles, agents located a loaded 9mm handgun, quantities of both powder and crack cocaine, along with miscellaneous items commonly used for the packaging and sale of illegal narcotics. Agents also observed a small wallet connected to the vehicle’s keys in the ignition which contained an identification card belonging to Quinton Bolding. Bolding was identified as one of the subjects at the residence. Bolding was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. 

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above mentioned charges, Judge Kliebert ordered that sentencing be deferred to August 28, 2017.  

          On August 28, 2017, Bolding appeared before Judge Kliebert for sentencing. Judge Kliebert ordered that Bolding be sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. It was ordered that the said sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
