SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of August 7-August 11, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Darren Harris, 9895 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities and was sentenced to 12 months at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Travis Conerly, 36600 Pookey Lane Prairieville, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Driving Under Suspension. On the charges of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Conerly was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Driving Under Suspension, Conerly was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. It was further ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  3. Ashley Shipp, 8544 S St. Landry St. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation under the condition that she serve 6 months in the parish jail or enroll in and complete a court approved substance abuse treatment program.
  4. Kerington Briscoe, 11090 N Bayou View Dr. Gonzales, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. Briscoe was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  5. Allen Causey, 38285 Josh Brown Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Distribution of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. On the charges of Distribution of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Causey was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Causey was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Causey was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was further ordered that all of the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  6. Porshe Bassett, 16092 Tiger Heights Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids 1st Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Bassett was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charges of Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids 1st Offense and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Bassett was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served on each count. It was further ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  7. Antonio Robinson, 1501 Front St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. Robinson was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. It was further ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  8. Lyndsey Concepcion, 4122 County Hill Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.
  9. Darion Henderson, 11581 Fair Oak Ave. Baton Rouge, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  10. Marcus Carlton, 28825 S Red Oak Rd. Livingston, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Carlton was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, Carlton was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the said sentence is to be suspended, and Carlton is to be placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  11. Jasmon Williams, 1528 St. Patrick St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. On the charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Williams was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Williams was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the said sentence is to be suspended, and Williams is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  12. Christian Stevens, 47216 Hwy 937 St. Amant, LA., age 18, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute and was sentenced to 2 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 ½ years supervised probation.
  13. Matilda Owens, 18554 Idle Hour Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.
  14. Britrica Robins, 2828 Alaska St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Principal to Obtaining Drugs by Fraudulent Means and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  15. Kristopher Turner, 37001 Walker North Rd. Walker, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and DWI 1st Offense. On the charges of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Turner was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of DWI 1st Offense, Turner was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the imposed sentence is to be suspended under the conditions that Turner enroll in and complete a court approved substance abuse treatment program or serve 6 months in the parish jail. Upon completion, Turner is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

16.  Vonzell Batiste, 300 6th St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Felony Theft. On the charge of Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Batiste was sentenced to 7 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the Charge of Felony Theft, Batiste was sentenced to 3 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.

 The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kenneth Dupaty, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Terry Braud, 145 Al Joseph St. Thibodaux, LA., age 60, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

St. James Parish:

  1. Heath Trabeaux, 16515 Hwy 930 Prairieville, LA., age 45, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  2. Matthew Jordan III, 3230 Wire Lane Donaldsonville, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. This sentence is to run concurrent with Jordan’s 15 year sentence for Manslaughter in Assumption Parish.
