SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of February 20-February 24, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Edgric Stewart, 43495 Sam Stewart Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  2. Jonathan Small, 2320 N Amelia Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Obscenity (2 counts) and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  3. Justin Brent, 14119 George Rouyea Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  4. Frank Rios, 12371 Deck Blvd. Geismar, LA., age 51, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  5. Jessica Chaney, 2320 N Amelia Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Obscenity and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation. 
  6. Eugene Louque, 320 N Montz St. Gramercy, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or More and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  7. Decarlos Lindsey, 702 5th Donaldsonville, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Simple Robbery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Shawn Bush and Kenneth Dupaty. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr. 

  1. Sean Barringer, 10624 Shemoor Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  2. Michael Buckalew, 14206 Garcon Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or More but Less than $5000 and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  3. Nicole Breaux, 17250 Hwy 929 Prairieville, LA., age 42, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of an Access Card and Simple Burglary. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  4. Anthony Vega, 12946 Tanne Hill Lane Walker, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse (2 Counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

Assumption Parish: 

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Fredrick Villavaso, 7116 Lewis St. St. James, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  2. Lionel Stewart, 2475 Church St. Vacherie, LA., age 45, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
