SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of July 10-July 14, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Patrick Booker, 2954 Jackson St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling (4 counts) and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

2. Darrian Curtis, 36281 Crestway Ave. Prairieville, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Simple Robbery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

3. Matthew Starns, 36600 Pokey Ln. Prairieville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (4 counts) and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

4. Colin Hart, 16098 Bluff Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentenced is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation. It was further ordered that the defendant is to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
5. Jerry Richardson, 1312 Hempshire Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

6. Geddrick Travis, 1214 Hempshire Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 9 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

7. Nicholas Marshall, 100 Meyers Rd. Des Allemands, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

8. Shalique Richardson, 12628 Goodwood Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the first 2 years of the imposed sentence are to be served, and the remaining 5 ½ years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.

9. Stephanie Serpas, 12503 Jim Babin Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Michelle Shelton. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

10.  Darien Mackie, 44550 Braud St. Sorrento, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.

11. Quinton Bolding, 6150 Babin Wilson St. Convent, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous substance. Sentencing is set for August 28, 2017.
12. Kaylonda Brown, 633 W Jeansonne St. Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Exploitation of the Infirmed and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. The defendant must also pay restitution in the amount of $14,000.

13. Henry Latsetter, 19545 Vicknair Rd. Maurepas, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Moveable and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

Assumption Parish:

1. Russell Smalley, 385 Little Choupic Rd. Thibodaux, LA., age 52, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

St. James Parish:

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
