SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of July 17-July 21, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Ashley Messina, 916 E Hamilton St. Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $5,000 or More but Less than $25,000. Messina was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.  
  2. Travis Darville, 12371 Deck Blvd. Geismar, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  3. Chaise Curtis, 12371 Deck Blvd. Geismar, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  4. Adam Simoneaux, 6139 Hwy 952 Jackson, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Shawn Bush and Kenneth Dupaty. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Billy Rodrigue, 118 Gerald St. Pierre Part, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Theft Valued over $5,000 but Less than $25,000. Rodrigue was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another.
  2. Atanacio Guerrero III, 276 Vivian St. Morgan City, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Gage Calvaruso, 125 Simoneaux Ln. Donaldsonville, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  4. Leron James, 208 Pierre St. Plattenville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. James Viscardis Jr., 107 Honey Ln. Morgan City, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Viscardis must also register as a Sex Offender.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

St. James Parish:

  1. Monique Henderson, 1332 Arceneaux St. Gonzales, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Forgery and Theft of Assets of an Aged or Disabled Person. On the charge of Forgery, Henderson was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Theft of Assets of an Aged or Disabled Person, Henderson was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run consecutive to one another. It was further ordered that the imposed sentenced are to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  2. Brad LeBlanc, 201 Heriad St. Plattenville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  3. Cortas Francois, 11654 Sherwood Meadow B Baton Rouge, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 4 years of the imposed sentence are to be suspended, and Francois is to be placed on home incarceration for 1 year. Upon release from home incarceration, Francois is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  4. Darren St. Pierre, 30534 LA. 3125 Paulina, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
