SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of March 6-March 10, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Alaica Furlow, 14132 Mire Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  2. Travis Jones, 3996 Stewart Lane Donaldsonville, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Illegal Carrying of Weapons. Jones was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections on each count with credit for time served, to run concurrent with one another. 
  3. Melvin Johnson, 44305 Hwy 42 Prairieville, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  4. David Ullman Jr., 102 Elvira St. Chauvin, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  5. Keelee Fussell, 17960 Will Ave. Greenwell Springs, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Simple Battery. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Fussell was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Simple Battery, Fussell was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  6. Thomas Tuggle, 13237 Spellman Lambert Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 42, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Simple Battery. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Tuggle was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Simple Battery, Tuggle was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.  
  7. Lori Marie Stone, 724 Sammy St. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation. 
  8. Warren Henry, 1208 St. Vincent St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 58, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  9. Lacy Guillot, 6566 Hwy 1 Belle Rose, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation. 
  10. Kirk Gibson, 134 Evangeline Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long and Lindsey Manda. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Alix Delatte, 7212 Hwy 182 East Morgan City, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  2. Guscemore Murphy, 208 College St. Napoleonville, LA., age 54, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  3. Marty Stevens Jr., 414 Manchester Manor Thibodaux, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution and was sentenced to 2 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 ½ years supervised probation. 
  4. Billy Chapman Jr., 1822 Plantation Ave. Port Allen, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution and Monetary Instrument Abuse. Chapman was sentenced to 2 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc. 

St. James Parish: 

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
