On June 24, 2019, Floyd Brooks Jr. of 2627 N King Ave. Lutcher, LA., age 55, pled guilty to Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator. Brooks was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors after Brooks failed to comply with sex offender registration laws.

          On August 29, 2018, detectives with the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office received information that a convicted sex offender, Floyd Brooks Jr., who moved to Lutcher from the state of Florida had failed to register as a sex offender in St. James Parish. Brooks has a conviction for Sexual Battery in the state of Florida, and upon his arrival to St. James Parish was not at the address given to Florida authorities for the sex offender registry. Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Brooks. Brooks was subsequently apprehended and booked into the St. James Parish Detention Center.

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Brooks was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
