SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of July 8 – July 12, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Christopher Watkins, 424 Azalea Dr. Westwego, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (8 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisianan Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

2. Clarence Duncan, 13096 Silverwood Court Denham Springs, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brant Mayer, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin.

3. Danielle Thomas, 8172 Treeline Dr. Gonzales, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

4. Skyhe Farlough, 1739 Creole St. LaPlace, LA, age 24, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 (2 counts) and Theft Valued Over $25,000. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

5. Jameka LeBlanc, 1612 N Coontrap Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 25, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and Aggravated Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

6. Maurice Carter, 407 West Mulberry St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $25,000 or More and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 2 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 3 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.

7. Blaze Medaries, 15263 Pace Rd. Clinton, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

8. Johnathan White, 1840 Carolina St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Child Desertion and Aggravated Flight from an Officer (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

9. Latisha Landry, 44444 Melancon St. Sorrento, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

10. Jason Baker, 437 Carrie Dr. Denham Springs, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Theft of a Firearm and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

11. Joseph Alexander, 230 S Plum St. Gramercy, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

12. Deandre Thompson, 36430 Sharper Rd. Geismar, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

13. Blaine Bazile, 11360 Tannis Rd. St. Amant, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisianan Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

14. Lawrence Isaac, 205 Rivercrest Ave Baton Rouge, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $25,000 or More and Attempted Simple Burglary (3 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

15. Derrell Morris, 10400 Alex Reine Rd. St. Amant, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Simple Burglary, Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

16. Joseph Bennett, 37237 Hwy 621 Prairieville, LA, age 51, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000, and Possession of a schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

Assumption Parish:

1. Alessie Landry, 109 Verda St. Pierre Part, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

2. Jessica Bourgeois, 821 Two Brothers Lane Morgan City, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

3. Cedric Sylvester, Houma, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisianan Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

4. Amy Duplessis, 107 Texaco St. Pierre Part, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

St. James Parish:

1. Mandi Russell, 61624 Bennett Rd. Amite, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

2. Troy Thomas, 512 Nicholls St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
