SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of November 4 – November 8, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Devin Dixon, 14146 Martin Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery 3rd Offense, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Randall Hodges, 100 Chetimatches St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of Marijuana. The defendant was sentenced to 5 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Patrick Wardrop III, 45179 Huntington St. St. Amant, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Boris Oswaldo Avila, 550 Overpass Rd. Buda, TX, age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.   
  1. Jacquill Cofield, 2543 Main St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation. 
  1. Victor Alonza Covington Jr., 39067 Prairie North Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Uineka Henderson, 3615 McCall Rd. Donaldsonville, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons/Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Christopher Hendricks, 20390 Hwy 22 Maurepas, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Michael Keller Jr., 15262 Chrissy Dr. Gonzales, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation. 
  1. Tramaine Rodney, 1709 Loretta D St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Carrying of Weapons/Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000. The defendant was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Kane Rogers, 224 West Chalfont Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Christina Roy, 12447 Ruth Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Keely Watts, 37472 Hwy 22 Darrow, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Robin O’Bannon, and Kristin Tregre. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge John Smith. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Gregory Payne, 1809 J St. Patterson, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Daryl Tillman Jr., 7337 Melpomene Dr. Baker, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Justin Steward, W 9th Donaldsonville, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Ramyron Hays, 229 South Airline Hwy Gramercy, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
