During the week of November 18 – November 22, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Louis Walker, 18792 Hwy 22 Maurepas, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Marquette Walker, 509 W Sixth St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things Valued at $5,000 or More, but Less than $25,000 and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Demarcus Griffin, 333 Normandy St. Houston, TX, age 28, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $5,000 or More, but Less than $25,000 and Illegal Transmission of Monetary Funds. The defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Johnny Diggs, 38726 Josh Brown Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Illegal Use of Weapons, and Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Anthony Joshua, 3350 Hwy 1 S Donaldsonville, LA, age 24, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Christopher Gray, 132 Simoneaux Ln. Donaldsonville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Jerimy Holton, 15350 Holton Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Travis Jones, 3099 Stewart Rd. Donaldsonville, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Terrorizing, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Kristopher Pierson, 8216 Ned Ave Baton Rouge, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Simple Burglary (2 counts), and Theft of a Firearm. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Kenyatti Soloman, 44444 Melancon St. Sorrento, LA, age 28, pled guilty to First Degree Vehicular Negligent Injuring and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Vonzell Batiste, 306 Claiborne St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Simple Robbery and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Jeffrey Heggelund. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. David Hebert, 461 Shell Beach Rd. Pierre Part, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered 3 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 4 ½ years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

St. James Parish: 

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
