SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of April 21 – April 25, 2025, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Ashley Donahue, 523 Herron Point Rd. Baton Rouge, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Anthony Jones, 2384 Lemanville Cut Off Rd. Donaldsonville, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Battery of a Police Officer Resulting in Medical Attention and Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Richard Lofton, 23083 Christy Lane Denham Springs, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Second Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jayden McConnell, 8379 Hackberry St. Sorrento, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles (20 counts). Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  1. Daniel Turner, Tallulah, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Movable and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              
  2. Raymond Welch, 18665 Ducros Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 74, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles (10 counts). Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  1. Treyvon Johnson, 11777 Nicholson Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  1. Cody Poirrier, 15155 Meadow Lane Prairieville, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles (10 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The said sentences are to run concurrent with one another. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life. 
  1. Curtis Weams, 41331 Hwy 931 Gonzales, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Obscenity. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Adam Koenig and Lana Chaney. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. 

  1. Bradley Farris, 4367 Lacombe Lane Fordoche, LA, age 49, pled guilty to Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Felony Theft. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. James Bailey, 36214 Bluff Oak Ave. Prairieville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Shermanisa Leonard, 11702 Ironstone Ct. Houston, TX, age 37, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Eddie Conish, 2142 W LA Hwy 30 Gonzales, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. John Davis, 38446 Hwy 42 Prairieville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway Commerce, and Simple Burglary. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Eduin Escobar, 38750 Smith Dr. Prairieville, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Alex Fisher, 13289 Davis Lee Dr. Walker, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway Commerce and DWI 3rd The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Torian Porter, 38207 Smith Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Public Intimidation (2 counts) and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jim Strong, Hancock, MS, age 54, pled guilty to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender or Child Predator and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Tyrone Ingram, 8151 Ned Ave. Baton Rouge, LA, age 50, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  1. Terry Potter, 637 Edna St. Waveland, MS, age 33, pled guilty to Second Degree Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Karen Soto, 8271 Ned Ave. Baton Rouge, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation.

Assumption Parish: 

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Dhani Edwards, 2540 Vermont St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and Illegal Use of a Weapon. The defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
