Prairieville Man to Serve 10 Years for Possession of Child Pornography

On April 21, 2025, Cody Poirrier of 15155 Meadow Lane Prairieville, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles (10 counts). Poirrier was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koening, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2022 investigation conducted by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations.

In March 2022, the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the possession/distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Materials. Investigators were able to ultimately determine that Cody Poirrier was in possession of and had downloaded child pornography on electronic devices. A warrant of arrest was obtained for Poirrier who was subsequently arrested and booked in to the Ascension Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Poirrier was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The said sentences are to run concurrent with one another. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life.
