On May 19, 2025, Clydedric Joseph of 2190 Levy Gaudet St. Lutcher, LA, age 30, pled guilty to Attempted Manslaughter. Joseph was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.
On July 25, 2022, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives responded to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Baton Rouge in reference to cruelty to a juvenile. Upon arrival, detectives made contact with medical staff and learned that the victim in this matter, a 4-year-old juvenile male, was in critical condition and unresponsive. Detectives made contact with the child’s mother who advised that the child was in the care of Clydedric Joseph during the time frame these injuries would have occurred. During an interview with Joseph, he admitted to detectives that he lost control on the child and struck the child in the face with a closed fist after the child bit his hand. Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Joseph who was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
On January 20, 2026, Clydedric Joseph was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
