Last week, Devin Jackson of 2384 Lemanville Cut Off Rd. Donaldsonville, LA, age 19, pled guilty to First Degree Robbery (2 counts). Jackson was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Adam Koenig and Lana Chaney. Presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with the armed robberies of two Ascension Parish businesses.
On December 7, 2023, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives responded to a convenience store along Hwy 30 in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, detectives began processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. Store employees advised that a black male masked subject wearing gray and black clothing entered the store before brandishing a handgun and demanding money from the registers. The suspect then fled the area.
On January 6, 2024, Gonzales Police Department Detectives responded to a reported armed robbery at a restaurant along Hwy 30. Upon arrival, detectives began processing the scene and interviewing witnesses. Detectives learned that a black male subject wearing dark colored clothing, a face mask, and blue latex gloves entered the restaurant armed with what was later determined to be a pellet gun. The suspect demanded cash from the register and safe. The suspect walked behind the counter where he took money from the register then fled on foot.
After an extensive and collaborative investigation by both the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Gonzales Police Department, Devin Jackson was identified as the suspect in both armed robberies. A warrant of arrest was issued for Jackson who was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Devin Jackson was sentenced to 17 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
