SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of April 28 – May 2, 2025, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Luis Garcia, 3302 E Francis Edinburg, TX, age 26, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation to include 1 year of home incarceration. 
  1. Kahlil Howard, 7233 LA 405 Donaldsonville, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Robbery. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  1. Santos Alvarez, 5406 Plumtree Dr. San Antonio, TX, age 21, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 4 years of the said sentence are to be served in custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections, and the remaining 4 years are to be served on home incarceration which will be monitored by Louisiana Probation and Parole. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Phil Maples and Brant Mayer. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Anthony Carter Jr., 2853 Sugar Lakes Lane Paulina, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Attempted Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jamyre Mitchell, 507 Ledet Dr. Thibodaux, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Lakell Honor, 6304 Acre Rd. Marrero, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Nicholas Fabrizio, 1421 Kentucky St. New Orleans, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation. 
  1. Kevin Turner, 236 Cynthia Circle Reserve, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Brandon Stewart, Paincourtville, LA, age 46, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Jorish Ester, 150 Daggs St. Belle Rose, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Charles Patterson III, 133 Violet St. Labadieville, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Bryant Tunson, 116 Thomas St. Paincourtville, LA, age 50, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. 

  1. Titus Richard, 115 Pugh St. Napoleonville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 9 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Kaleb Vandermark, 12430 Bryant Lane Denham Springs, LA, age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Terry Sanchez Jr., 1914 Hempstead Dr. Slidell, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

St. James Parish:
