On November 12, 2024, Lloyd Brooks of 234 S Plum St. Gramercy, LA, age 60, pled guilty to Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator. Brooks was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.
On April 7, 1998, Lloyd Brooks was convicted of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. Brooks was released from prison on July 15, 2009 and was required to comply with the Louisiana Sex Offender Registration requirements until January 4, 2038.
In January 2023, Brooks met with St. James Parish Sheriff’s Deputies to complete annual sex offender registration requirements. At this time Brooks declared that he was residing at a specific address in Gramercy.
Deputies along with Probation and Parole Agents made multiple attempts to visit with Brooks at the address he had provided, to no avail. Deputies eventually made contact with Brooks who advised that he was residing with a family member in Jefferson Parish due to renovations at his residence. Deputies gave Brooks multiple opportunities to provide updates on his living arrangements, however, Brooks failed to comply. In July 2023, a warrant of arrest was obtained for Brooks who was ultimately arrested and booked into the St. James Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
On April 14, 2025, Brooks appeared before Judge Tureau for sentencing. Brooks was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
