Lutcher Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Illegal Firearm Possession

On December 2, 2025, Taber Davis of 9296 Central Project St. Lutcher, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms. Davis was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin.

On February 10, 2025, St. James Parish Sheriff’s detectives initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing suspicious activity. Upon identifying and interviewing the occupants of the vehicle, a large caliber firearm was located inside the vehicle. Taber Davis admitted that the firearm belonged to him. During a criminal history search, detectives determined that Davis was in fact a convicted felon. In addition, the firearm had been previously reported stolen out of East Baton Rouge Parish. Davis was arrested and transported to the St. James Parish Jail where he was booked accordingly.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On April 7, 2026, Davis was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
