Napoleonville Man Sentenced to 9 Years for Illegal Drug Possession

On last week, Titus Richard of 115 Pugh St. Napoleonville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Richard was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2023 arrest following a traffic stop.

On July 25, 2023, an Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop after observing the driver of a vehicle commit a traffic violation. The deputy made contact with the occupants of the vehicle. The driver, who was identified as Titus Richard, appeared nervous and anxious to leave the stop. Richard began pacing back and forth on the roadway. For officer safety, the deputy attempted to detain Richard who physically resisted. Upon placing Richard into handcuffs and conducting a pat down search of Richard’s person, the deputy observed the end of a clear plastic baggy hanging from Richard’s waistband. The deputy retrieved the baggy which contained a quantity of methamphetamine and heroin. Richard was subsequently booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Richard was sentenced to 9 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
