Last week, Jeremy Crochet of 17149 Penn Blvd. Prairieville, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Sexual Abuse of an Animal (4 counts), Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles, and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. Crochet was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with an investigation conducted by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations. 

          On October 31, 2022, the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations initiated an investigation after receiving a cybertip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to possession, manufacturing, and/or distribution of child pornography. After investigating the reported messaging app provided in the tip, investigators were able to link the account information to a residence in Ascension Parish. Agents of the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations along with investigators from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security, executed a search warrant at the residence located at 17149 Penn Blvd. Prairieville. Investigators interviewed Jeremy Crochet and seized multiple electronic devices from the residence. The devices belonged to Crochet and were determined to contain numerous photographs and videos depicting child sexual abuse material and sexual abuse of animals. A warrant of arrest was obtained for Crochet who was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. 

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Jeremy Crochet was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 7 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 8 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, Crochet is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. In addition, Crochet must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life.
