SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

Prairieville Man to Serve 10 Years for Burglary

Last week, Cody Dixon of 39327 Catoire Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Simple Burglary. Dixon was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2024 investigation.

On August 1, 2024, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residential area in reference to an attempted burglary. While in route to this location, the complainant relayed to dispatchers that Cody Dixon had attempted to break into a shed adjacent to a residence. The complainant advised that when confronted, Dixon fled the area. While in route to speak to the complainant, deputies were advised by another individual that Cody Dixon had just stole a fiberglass boat and was paddling down the bayou. Deputies observed Dixon paddling the boat and he was instructed to exit the boat. Dixon refused to exit the boat and paddled over to the East Baton Rouge Parish side of the bayou, before exiting and running into the woods. After a brief foot pursuit, Dixon was arrested and ultimately booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, Cody Dixon was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
