Last week, Joshua Harris of 1250 Charles St. Thibodaux, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Manslaughter in connection with the 2017 shooting death of 25-year-old Jerrod Brown, also of Thibodaux. Harris, who was 19 years of age at the time, was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.
On June 24, 2017, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Superior Wood Ave in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located Jerrod Brown suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Brown was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Detectives learned that Harris and Brown were involved in a verbal argument when Harris brandished two firearms and began firing into Brown’s direction. Harris then fled the area on foot. An arrest warrant was issued for Harris who was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, pursuant to a plea agreement with prosecutors, Harris was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
