SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of November 27 – December 1, 2023, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Lionel Jones, 301 E Mcarthur Ave. Gonzales, LA, age 55, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jennifer Mixon, 42057 Moody Dixon Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 50, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Drake Geisler, 113 Velma Ct. Morgan City, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Simple Criminal Damage to Property Valued Over $1,000, but Less than $50,000 and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Caleb Givens, Morgan City, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Bryce Aucoin, 3228 Susan Dr. Morgan City, LA, age 20, pled guilt to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Lynn Carriere, Thibodaux, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Tremeka Lewis, 108 Marshall Lane Napoleonville, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and 2nd Degree Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

  1. Courtney Davis, 214 Opelousas St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Melvin Zeno. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Shamar Harris, 1281 Magnolia Heights Vacherie, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.
