SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of May 20 – May 24, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Dustin Braud, 43126 Cannon Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 50, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Robin O’Bannon, and Kristin Tregre. Presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge James Kuhn. 

  1. Tyler Cedotal, 206 Church St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. The defendant must register and notify as a sex offender. 
  1. Elmo Lambert, 2220 Veterans Blvd Gonzales, LA, age 49, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Reginald LeBlanc, 207 Lafourche St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   
  2. Marvin Smith, 12120 Lake Estate Baton Rouge, LA, age 49, pled guilty to Issuing Worthless Checks $1,000 – $5,000 and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Edward Arnold, 262 Bear Creek Rd. Farmerville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Edgar Cedotal, 6560 Hwy 1 Belle Rose, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Adam Colson, 15514 Braud Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Tyler Johnson, age 24, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Scott Roussel, 14134 Mire Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Daryl Mitchell, 12499 Esplanade Dr. Gonzales, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (2 counts) and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Jeff Heggelund. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. 

  1. Cristhian Bercegeay, 227 S Sammy St. Gonzales, LA, age 24, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Gerald Cooks, 38278 Josh Brown Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Introducing Contraband Into or Upon the Grounds of any State Correctional Institution, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisianan Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  1. Troy Dorsey, 1541 St. Patrick St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Christina Gray, 209 W Bordelon St. Gonzales, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Quinton Harrison, 5822 Matthew St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Kenshawn Huggins, 1909 N Airline Hwy Gonzales, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Simple Criminal Damage to Property Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $50,000 and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Davion Kibodeaux, 3618 Oak Forest Ave Baton Rouge, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and Theft of a Motor Vehicle (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Angel Moreno, 11483 Garney Hood Rd. Denham Springs, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons While in Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (3 counts) and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Xavier Murray, 1612 Coontrap Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Dalacia Nicholas, 1216 S Burnside Ave Gonzales, LA, age 46, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Justin Sharp, 38150 Smith Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 24, pled guilty to Fire Raising in a Correctional Facility and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Lavon Thigpen, 14223 Bourque Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Seiervan Ursin, 5358 Hemingway Dr. Darrow, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Roy Williams III, 416 Woodstone Rd. Clinton, MS, age 39, pled guilty to Simple Escape from Custody and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Frank Wilson, 714 E Sanders St. Gonzales, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Dean Hue Jr., 5961 Hwy 308 Belle Rose, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Rontrell Johnson, 211 Cardinal St. Labadieville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The defendant is to serve 4 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 6 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Herman Knockum, 148 Belle Point Lane Napoleonville, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Distribution of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Sam Rosette, 520 Hilda St. Morgan City, LA, age 20, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The defendant is to serve 2 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 3 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Tyrin Bozeman, 279 Hwy 998 Belle Rose, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Kim Kirkland, 8227 Cottonwood St. Sorrento, LA, age 63, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Kaglin Green, 186 Marshall Lane Napoleonville, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
