On July 15, 2024, Luke Legnon of 130 Legnon Ct. Morgan City, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles. Legnon was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2023 cybertip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with regard to Child Sexual Assault Material.
On August 8, 2023, Morgan City Police Detectives received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with regard to a google account maintaining child sexual abuse materials. Detectives were able to identify the owner of the account as a resident of Bayou L’Ourse in Assumption Parish. Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives took possession of the case file and resumed the investigation. Detectives were able to identify Luke Legnon as the owner of the account. A search warrant was conducted at Legnon’s residence which led to the recovery of evidence substantiating the cybertip. Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant of arrest for Legnon who was subsequently arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above mentioned charge, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Legnon was sentenced to 13 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for a period of 25 years.
