SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of July 15 – July 19, 2024, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. David Foreman, 12187 Hwy 73 Geismar, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and 2nd Degree Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Collin Parms, 394721 Hwy 42 Prairieville, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Bank Fraud, and Forgery. The defendant was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Robin O’Bannon, and Kristin Tregre. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge James Kuhn. 

  1. Leann Harbin, 1990 Airline Hwy # 39 Gonzales, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Timothy James, 6360 Nesting Dr. Gonzales, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Taylor Latil, 37429 Southwood Village Prairieville, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Introducing Contraband Into or Upon the Grounds of any State Correctional Institution (2 counts) and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Ashley Reed, 39252 Cambre Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or More, but Less than $5,000, Government Benefits Fraud, Money Laundering, and Illegal Transmission of Monetary Funds. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Tyler Scarborough, 5272 Eudora Dr. Addis, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Movable and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Christopher Westley, 4103 Chick Duplessis Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 42, pled guilty to Resisting an Officer with Fore or Violence and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Latyrion White, 8481 Governor Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 31, pled guilty to Attempted Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Chancellor Williams, 53525 Stone St. White Castle, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Christopher Williams, 16260 Hwy 44 Prairieville, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Kendarius Williams, 4711 Oaklon Ave. Baton Rouge, LA, age 26, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Skyler Gressett, 17606 Hearthwood Dr. Greenwell Springs, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Adam Koenig and Lana Chaney. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. 

  1. Raneshia Pointer, 12050 Cypress Ridge Rd. Geismar, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons and Principal to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. The defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jaylon Ammons, 20114 La Trace Rd. French Settlement, LA, age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and DWI with Child Endangerment. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jorge Merino, 2107 Terry’s Creek Rd. Magnolia, MS, age 22, pled guilty to Hit and Run Driving Involving Death or Serious Bodily Injury and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jacquel Wade, 41127 Citadel Dr. Sorrento, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Negligent Homicide and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. David Cooper, 39267 Hwy 929 Prairieville, LA, age 60, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Jamal Mitchell, 8241 Pleasant Hill St. Convent, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Terry Prejean, 7134 Hwy 308 Belle Rose, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (3 counts) and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Jeff Heggelund. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Luke Legnon, 130 Legnon Ct. Morgan City, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles and was sentenced to 13 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for a period of 25 years. 
  1. Jeremiah Cortez, 19480 Simon Dr. Vacherie, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Dylan Mike’ Al Ruiz, 210 W Roosevelt St. Gonzales, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Michael Lovell, 190 Stacy St. Morgan City, LA, age 56, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

St. James Parish: 

  1. Gregory MaGee, 39049 Prairie North Dr. Gonzales, LA, age 22, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
