Denham Springs Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Illegal Gun and Drug Possession

On January 13, 2025, Bernard Kimbro of 26148 Fallen Oaks Dr. Denham Springs, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Kimbro was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2023 arrest.

On November 29, 2023, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Deputies observed a suspicious vehicle in the Vacherie area where recent thefts had occurred. Multiple deputies converged on the area and located two male subjects walking around a building with flashlights. Deputies made contact with both subjects who were detained, one of which was identified as Bernard Kimbro. On Kimbro’s person, deputies located a quantity of methamphetamine. In the vehicle occupied by the two subjects, deputies located a large caliber assault rifle in plain view. Kimbro advised that the rifle belonged to him. A criminal records search indicated that Kimbro has a prior felony conviction for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Kimbro was arrested and transported to the St. James Parish Jail where he was booked accordingly.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Kimbro was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
