On November 29, 2023, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Deputies observed a suspicious vehicle in the Vacherie area where recent thefts had occurred. Multiple deputies converged on the area and located two male subjects walking around a building with flashlights. Deputies made contact with both subjects who were detained, one of which was identified as Bernard Kimbro. On Kimbro’s person, deputies located a quantity of methamphetamine. In the vehicle occupied by the two subjects, deputies located a large caliber assault rifle in plain view. Kimbro advised that the rifle belonged to him. A criminal records search indicated that Kimbro has a prior felony conviction for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Kimbro was arrested and transported to the St. James Parish Jail where he was booked accordingly.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Kimbro was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
