On November 22, 2024, an Ascension Parish Jury found 40-year-old Blain Scott of 18094 Conthia St. Prairieville, LA, guilty of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. This guilty verdict stemmed from a 2021 stabbing at a Prairieville business establishment. Scott was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Leila Braswell and Brant Mayer. Presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner.
On September 25, 2021, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an area business establishment along Hwy 42 Prairieville in reference to a stabbing. Deputies secured the scene, and detectives were dispatched for further investigation. The victim in this matter was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries and the suspect had fled the scene. While interviewing witnesses, detectives learned that the suspect had engaged the victim in an aggressive manor on two separate occasions. On the second occasion, the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck and back area multiple times. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Blain Scott. A warrant of arrest was obtained for Scott who was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Upon the jury rendering a guilty verdict in this matter, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Scott was remanded to the custody of the Ascension Parish Jail.
On February 19, 2025, Scott appeared before Judge Turner for sentencing. Scott was sentenced to 25 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
