Last week, Chad Babb of 24056 Brunnett Rd. Loranger, LA, age 52, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle (2 counts). Babb was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Philip Prescott, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2023 automobile theft investigation.
On February 14, 2023, Asension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an area business along Hwy 30 Gonzales in reference to an unauthorized entry of a place of business that occurred. Deputies learned that two company pick-up trucks had been stolen from this location. Detectives were able to recover one of the trucks in Livingston Parish and recovered the second in St. Helena Parish. Chad Babb was identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for Babb’s arrest. Babb was subsequently apprehended and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Chad Babb was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
