Sorrento Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Possession of Child Pornography

On April 22, 2025, Jayden McConnell of 8379 Hackberry St. Sorrento, LA, age 21, pled guilty to Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles (20 counts). McConnell was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.

On July 7, 2023, agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations initiated an investigation after receiving multiple Cypertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in reference to Child Sexual Abuse Material. Upon following up on these tips, agents were able to determine that Jayden McConnell had uploaded a variety of videos and photographs containing Child Sexual Abuse Material to an I-Cloud account associated with a cellular device he owned. Upon recovering evidence and identifying McConnell as the individual responsible for the uploads, agents obtained a warrant of arrest for McConnell. McConnell was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Pariah Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

Last week, Jayden McConnel appeared before Judge Tureau for sentencing. McConnell was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for a period of 25 years
