SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 6 – October 10, 2025, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Marlon North, 33054 Hwy 943 Donaldsonville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation. 
  1. Kendrick Fobb, 204 Mockingbird Lane Saint Rose, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Principal to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jerry Lapharaohs, 6225 Morgan Rd. Greenwell Springs, LA, age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation. 
  1. Eric Bennet, 18230 Little Prairie Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.    
  2. Shannon Cannedy, 39138 Camp Dr. Prairieville, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Derrick Clark, 307 N Roscoe Ave. Gonzales, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence. The defendant was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 4 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 4 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Robin O’Bannon, and Kenneth Dupaty. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge John Smith.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Christopher Dyson, 2820 Dubose Rd. Rayne, LA, age 51, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Douglas Miles, 412 Bunn St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 62, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and DWI 2nd The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Shamod Williams, 100 Belmere Luxury Houma, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Carlos Francis, 704 Franklin St. Napoleonville, LA, age 54, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.

St. James Parish: 

  1. Marlon North, 33054 Hwy 943 Donaldsonville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of a Critical Infrastructure and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. 

  1. Tanara Cooper, 131 Homewood Place Reserve, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
