Belle Rose Man Jailed on Drug Charges

On March 20, 2017, Todd Franklin of 267 Hwy 1003 Belle Rose, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Franklin was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2015 narcotics related search warrant.

On August 6, 2015, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents executed a search warrant at a residence located at 267 Hwy 1003 Belle Rose, LA. Upon making entry into the residence, agents located a variety of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Franklin, one of multiple individuals inside of the residence, was observed holding two clear plastic baggies containing multiple individually wrapped baggies of crack cocaine packaged for sale. During a pat down search, agents located more crack cocaine in Franklin’s pant pocket along with a quantity of cash. Franklin was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Judge Kliebert ordered that Franklin be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 5 years with credit for time served. It was further ordered that 2 years of the imposed sentence are to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
