SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of April 3-April 7, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Jason Burke, 37084 Sue St. Geismar, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a   Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 
  2. Joel Quezaire, 603 Houmas St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 62, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Methamphetamine) and was sentenced to 7 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  3. Kimothy Batiste, 16163 Aikens Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 53, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Hydrocodone) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. The defendant is to be placed on home incarceration for the duration of probation. 
  4. Celine Breard, 13074 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Methamphetamine) and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  5. Constance Comstock, 14823 Easby Ave. Pride, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine) and Bank Fraud. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentence was suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  6. Dawn Coppenbarger, 307 Nell St. Gonzales, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin) and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentence is to be suspended on the following conditions: The defendant is to serve 6 months in the parish jail or enroll in and complete a court approved substance abuse treatment program. Upon completion, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation. 
  7. Dustin Crawford, 760 Sammy St. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Methamphetamine) and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  8. Jeffery Allen, 43264 Moody Dixon Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Resisting an Officer, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  9. Chad Cuccia, 1204 Green St. Metairie, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), Possession of 28 Grams or more, but less than 200 grams of Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, or Mixture, Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids 1st Offense, Resisting an Officer, Flight from an Officer, Negligent Injuring, Simple Obstruction of a Highway, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On the charges of Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Possession of 28 Grams or more, but less than 200 grams of Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, or Mixture, the defendant was sentenced to 7 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charges of Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids 1st Offense, Resisting an Officer, Flight from an Officer, Negligent Injuring, Simple Obstruction of a Highway, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail on each count. All of the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 
  10. Brandy Gros, 39047 Paradise Rd. Springfield, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. All of the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the imposed sentences are to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  11. Lawrence Harvey, 14447 Oak Meadow St. Gonzales, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  12. Jarrett Hatcher, 1128 E Sybil St. Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of Minors, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of Minors, the defendant was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another, and are to be suspended. The defendant is to be placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  13. Justin Poche, 43100 Poche Ln. Gonzales, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Legend Drug without Prescription or Order, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts).The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 
  14. Rydell Banks, 10536 Legion St. Convent, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  15. Laquinton Duncan, 1111 St. Vincent St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous substance, Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids, and Resisting an Officer. On the charges of Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charges of Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids and Resisting an Officer, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail on each count with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another, and are to be suspended. The defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

Assumption Parish: 

  1. David Adams, 3636 Hwy 1 Napoleonville, LA., age 56, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc. 

  1. Micah Roby, 506 Assumption St. Napoleonville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Sexual Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each charge, to run concurrent with one another. It was ordered that 4 years of the imposed sentence are to be suspended on the following conditions: The defendant must serve 1 year of the imposed sentence, and upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation. In addition, the defendant is to register and notify as a sex offender in compliance with Louisiana law. 
  2. Felicia Daigle, 3947 Hwy 1012 Napoleonville, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Simple Burglary (2 counts), and Theft of Petroleum (2 counts). Judge Turner ordered that the defendant be sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. Judge Turner further ordered that the imposed sentence is to be suspended, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation, and deferred imposition of the sentence. 
  3. Michael Lewis, 212 Daggs St. Belle Rose, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Obstruction of Justice and Monetary Instrument Abuse. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. Judge Turner further ordered that the imposition of the sentence would be deferred. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Lloyd Taylor, 6152 Rev. Thomas Scott St. Convent, LA., age 47, pled guilty to Possession of 28 Grams or More, but Less than 200 Grams of Cocaine. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served and a fine in the amount of $50,000. 

Taylor was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.
