SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of August 4 – August 8, 2025, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Justin Evans, 39327 Catoire Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway Commerce, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Failure to Stop and/or Yield, Reckless Operation, Driver Must be Licensed, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving on Right Side of Road, Operating a Vehicle with Improper Tail Lamps, Simple Criminal Damage to Property Less than $1,000, and No Seatbelt. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Gene Dinino, 218 W Third St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Clint Sarvaunt, 14653 Stoneberg Ave Baton Rouge, LA, age 55, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Jasson Winkler, 864 Acadia Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 45, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Dustin Braud, 43086 Cade’s Cove Ln Gonzales, LA, age 51, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Illegal Window Tint. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Shawn Simmons, 11735 Pecan Grove Baton Rouge, LA, age 49, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Darron Harris, 507 Fifth St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 44, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Samantha Perry, 12135 Cypress Park Dr. Geismar, LA, age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Fentanyl. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Carlton Vallo, 14449 Black Locust St. Prairieville, LA, age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Dylan Leader, 5009 Park Forest Baton Rouge, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Robin O’Bannon, and Kenneth Dupaty. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge John Smith. 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Divone Davis, 6038 Hwy 308 Paincourtville, LA, age 34, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 5 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 5 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Danny LeBlanc, 2443 Hwy 70 Pierre Part, LA, age 35, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Donald Phillips, 141 Riverbend St. Pierre Part, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Cruelty to Juveniles and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Thomas Daigle and Lana Chaney. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau.

St. James Parish: 

  1. Jordan Reagan, 183 Old State Route 34 Jonesborough, TN, age 32 pled guilty to Residential Contractor Fraud and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Dearen Sutherland, 3870 Florian St. Vacherie, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. 

  1. Kobye Robinson, 6398 Convent Station Lane Convent, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
