SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of December 10-December 14, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Terry Brown, Baton Rouge, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Simple Criminal Trespass (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charles “Chuck” Long, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

  1.  Jerry Primm, 6367 Quinn Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 46, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Michael Jenkins, 11342 Tannis Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $5,000, but Less than $25,000. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Jamarcus Fowler, 121 Favorite St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and Simple Criminal Damage to Property. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Tyler Rice, 10314 Hwy 431 St. Amant, LA., age 28, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the defendant is to serve 1 year of the said sentence, and the remaining 7 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  5. Steven Thomason, 10504 Hwy 22 St. Amant, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  6. Adam Brose, 8275 Vincent Rd. Denham Springs, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (3 counts) and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Rajah Persad, 41097 Chick Duplessis Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Theft Valued Over $5,000, but Less than $25,000. The defendant was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the defendant is to serve 5 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 10 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  8. Paige White, 21085 Cullen Rd. Denham Springs, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  9. Leo Payne, Gonzales, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (2 counts) and was sentenced to 7 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation on each count. The said sentences are to run consecutive to one another.
  10. Jason Creed, 46018 Gold Place Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and DWI 2nd Offense. The defendant was sentenced to 5 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

 The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Leila Braswell. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

  1. Markeivis Walker, Fort Lauderdale, FL., age 28, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 12 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

Assumption Parish:

  1. On September 10, 2018, Michael Maples of 15204 Houma Highlands Ct. Houma, LA., age 30, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On December 10, 2018, Maples was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be suspended and the defendant is to pay a fine in the amount of $2,000.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

St. James Parish:

  1. Shemika Jones, 13233 Acorn St. Vacherie, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Automobile Insurance Policies and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  2. Thomas North, 2618 N King Ave. Lutcher, LA., age 40, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  3. Tara Macloud, 42190 Brandy Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
