SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of December 11-December 15, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Ernest Hampton, 614 S Pleasant Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 61, pled guilty to False Imprisonment with a Dangerous Weapon and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Stanley Truvillion, unknown address, age 30, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and Monetary Instrument Abuse. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Quincy Wright, 3653 Osceola St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts) and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Johnny Normand, 18014 Autumn View Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, Public Intimidation, Resisting an Officer, and Monetary Instrument Abuse. On the charges of Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, Public Intimidation, and Monetary Instrument Abuse, Normand was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Resisting an Officer, Normand was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentences for the charges of Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, Public Intimidation, and Resisting an Officer are to run consecutive to one another and concurrent with the imposed sentence for the Monetary Instrument Abuse charge.
  5. Albert Robertson Jr., 8544 S St. Landry St. Gonzales, LA., age 36, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  6. Frank Bell Jr., 40397 Cross Creek Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 28, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. The defendant was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Gregory Copponex, 759 N Airline Hwy Gramercy, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Obscenity and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Leila Braswell. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

  1. On September 25, 2017, Shannon Cummings, 18165 John Broussard Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 39, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On December 12, 2017, Judge Kliebert ordered that Cummings be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 5 years with credit for time served. It was further ordered that 3 years of the said sentence are to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
  2. John Eldredge, 12369 Juliet St. Gonzales, LA., age 45, pled guilty to Leased Movables by Fraud and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  3. Sherrie Gonzales, 45158 Huntington Dr. St. Amant, LA., age 45, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

 

 Assumption Parish:

  1. On October 10, 2017, Rudy Lyons, 436 Hwy 311 Schriever, LA., age 46, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On December 11, 2017, Judge Stromberg ordered that Lyons be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 5 years with credit for time served. It was further ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence, and the remaining 4 years are to be suspended.
  2. Mitchell Borne, 3113 Hwy 308 Napoleonville, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Third Degree Rape and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. Borne must also register and notify as a sex offender for a period of 15 years upon release.
  3. On October 10, 2017, Faron Coupel, 6698 Hwy 998 Belle Rose, LA., age 56, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On December 11, 2017, Judge Stromberg ordered that Coupel be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 5 years with credit for time served. It was further ordered that at least 1 year of this sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. In addition, Coupel must pay a fine in the amount of $2,000.
  4. Wilfred Johnson, 111 Lincoln Lane Thibodaux, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Obstruction of Justice and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  5. Russell Jupiter, 3394 Hwy 1 Napoleonville, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Beau Matte, 149 Pond Dr. Morgan City, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Conspiracy to Commit Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

St. James Parish:

  1. Kalin Elder, 3437 Wendy St. Paulina, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. John Sparks, 32030 Longview St. Paulina, LA., age 52, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.
