SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of December 12-December 16, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.


Ascension Parish:

  1. Jennifer Davenport, 46504 Laurel Ridge Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 31, was found guilty by an Ascension Parish jury on November 16, 2016 of 2nd Degree Battery. On December 12, 2016, Davenport was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. Davenport was further ordered to pay restitution to the victim in the amount of $10,000.
  2. Shane Calley, 40024 Summer Wind Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or more, but Less than $5,000 and Theft Valued at Less than $750. On the charge of Theft Valued at $750 or more, but Less than $5,000, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended under the following conditions: The defendant is to serve 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served, and be placed on 2 years supervised probation. On the charge of Theft Valued at Less than $750, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 
  3. Nepton Hatfield, 2791 Lobelia Ave. Baton Rouge, LA., age 37, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  4. Terry Korkosz, 14380 Salt Dome Rd. Walker, LA., age 55, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or more, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  5. Euel McDonald, 206 N Irma Blvd Gonzales, LA., age 52, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 1 year in the parish jail with credit for time served. 
  6.  Melvin Sanders, 502 West 6th Donaldsonville, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Driving Under Suspension, Reckless Operation, and Resisting an Officer. On the charge of Aggravated Flight from an Officer, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the imposed sentence is to be served, and the remaining 4 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation. On the charge of Driving Under Suspension, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. On the charge of Reckless Operation, the defendant was sentenced to 90 days in the parish jail with credit for time served. On the charge of Resisting an Officer, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. All of the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Amy Colby. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

 

Assumption Parish:

  1. Cody Nelson, 121 Gold St. Napoleonville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery Aggravated Assault and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 4 ½ years of the imposed sentence are to be suspended, and the defendant is to serve the remaining 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  2.  Trayon Boatner, 3021 Hwy 1 Labadieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Attempted 2nd Degree Battery (2 counts) and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another as well as with another 2 year sentence in Lafourche Parish.
  3. Kristie Falcon, 229 Hwy 307 Thibodaux, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.
