SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

   During the week of December 8 – December 12, 2025, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

    Ascension Parish: 

  1. James Green, Donaldsonville, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault Upon a Dating Partner and Battery of a Dating Partner. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation. 
  1. Leroyal Jackson, 43498 Jackson Rd. Prairieville, LA, age 60, pled guilty to Stalking and Violation of a Protective Order. The defendant was sentenced to 6 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Sidney Young, 2422 W Orice Roth Rd. Gonzales, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Sandra Buggage, 2016 Spain St. New Orleans, LA, age 19, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

 The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Christopher Carter and Blake Sheets. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

Assumption Parish:

St. James Parish:
