SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of February 19-February 23, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Jeremie Ortega, 18025 Grace St. Prairieville, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. John Massey, 13050 She Lee Place Gonzales, LA., age 42, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the defendant is to serve 1 year of the said sentence without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. The remaining 2 years of the sentence are to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation upon release.
  3. Thomas Bowers, 26232 Kendalwood Rd. Baton Rouge, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Vehicular Homicide. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

  1.  Leeroy Hernandez, 15096 Beau Jon Ave. Prairieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Simple Burglary (3 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 12 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Elton Morgan, 8359 Pertuis Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Attempted Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Tre’Anthony James, 12254 La Margie Ave. Baton Rouge, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Principle to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Brad Cavalier, 17079 Bellina Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The defendant is to serve 3 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 3 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  5. Howard Landers, 55545 Mashon Rd. Independence, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The said sentences are to run consecutive to one another for a total of 10 years. Upon release, the defendant is to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life.
  6. Owen Rea, 5111 Chambord Dr. Walker, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Felony Theft and Theft of a Motor Vehicle. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The said sentences are to run consecutive to one another for a total of 10 years.
  7. Shelly Robinson, 758 S Sammy St. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  8. Justin Roddy, 14054 Hwy 44 Gonzales, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery and Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  9. Jelette Scott, 11232 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  10. Scott Sonnier, 9033 Hwy 418 Bachelor, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Theft of Identity and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  11. Zackary Freeman, 6928 Hwy 1 Belle Rose, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts) and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The said sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  12. Kristopher Medders, 44201 Braud St. Sorrento, LA., age 22, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  13. Kass Robinson, 4550 Good Dr. New Orleans, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Shawn Bush. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

 

Assumption Parish:

  1. Brent Meads, 1134 Louise St. Thibodaux, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana 4th Offense and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Chance King, 422 Lake Long Dr. Houma, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

St. James Parish:

  1. Janc Napoleon, 7163 Communi St. St. James, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Shen Joseph, 2191 Sagona Rd. Donaldsonville, LA., age 47, pled guilty to Illegal Carrying of a Weapon and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
