SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of February 2 – February 6, 2026, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Leroy Mannor, 2020 Veterans Blvd. Gonzales, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation. 
  1. Jarvis Lane, 42029 Hwy 941 Gonzales, LA, age 40, pled guilty to Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Distribution, Manufacture, or Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Timothy Cole, 7633 President Dr. Baton Rouge, LA, age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Shane Kerner, 5223 Quinncy St. Metairie, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Obtaining Drugs by Fraudulent Means and Identity Theft. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Trendell Potts, 1018 N Anita St. Gonzales, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation. 
  1. Eugene Thill, 10888 Buddy Ellis Rd. Denham Springs, LA, age 63, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating a Vehicle While License Suspended/Revoked/Cancelled, and Obstructing Public Passage. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Robin O’Bannon, and Kenneth Dupaty. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge John Smith 

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Eric Smith, 114 Reno St. Pierre Part, LA, age 46, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served, and the remining 2 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Lynsey Templet, 3575 Hwy 1 Donaldsonville, LA, age 42, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 
  1. Michael Broady, 223 Cecilia St. Morgan City, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Steven Tureau. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. Blaine Hymel, 139 N Apple St. Garyville, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Possession of Heroin and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Darrick Taylor, 1596 East 2nd Gramercy, LA, age 51, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Violation of Controlled Dangerous Substance Law – Drug Free Zone. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 3 years of the said sentence are to be served, and the remaining 7 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Ronald Russell JR., 425 S Hickory St. Gramercy, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Attempted Monetary Instrument Abuse and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Tireke Johnson, 471 Fredrick Dr. Thibodaux, LA, age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal Carrying of Weapons. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. On November 3, 2025, Harrold Perret of 6152 Pike 93 South Magnolia, MS, age 48, pled guilty to Negligent Homicide. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On February 2, 2026, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner. 

  1. LeRoyal Ealy, 8326 Payton St. Sorrento, LA, age 58, pled guilty to DWI 4th Offense, Carless Operation, and Failure to Dim. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  1. Tornell Tyler, 3453 Caroldale Rd. Paulina, LA, age 47, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
