SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of February 9 – February 13, 2026, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Alicia Maloid, 5312 Jackson Ave. Baton Rouge, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and Tampering with Surveillance Account, Inventory or Monitoring System. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  1. Dominic Ransom, 2730 Brownlee St. Baton Rouge, LA, age 37, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 30 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Blake Sheets and Chris Carter. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

  1. Tameisha Brown, 44584 Braud St. Sorrento, LA, age 28, pled guilty to Simple Escape from Custody and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  1. Brennan Daigle, 39210 Hwy 621 Gonzales, LA, age 30, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.                                                                                                                                                                       
  2. Christopher Gibbs, 1416 Peytavin St. Donaldsonville, LA, age 43, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts) and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Kristian Gonzales, 38138 Monticello Dr. Prairieville, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  1. Jeremiah Jones, 8200 Main St. Sorrento, LA, age 23, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Attempted Second-Degree Murder and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  1. Alexander Zarlengo, 5324 Courtyard Dr. Gonzales, LA, age 32, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Philip Prescott, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

Assumption Parish: 

  1. Tarao Martinez, 157 Georgette St. Napoleonville, LA, age 39, pled guilty to Filing False Affidavit of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge John Smith. 

  1. Ryan Smith, 819 Swift Rd. Morse, LA, age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin. 

St. James Parish: 

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
