SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of July 6 – July 10, 2020, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Xavier Frazier, 611 Second St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 32, pled Guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Katlyn Landry, 6716 Hwy 1 Belle Rose, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.
  3. Caleb Moran, 17325 Penn Blvd. Prairieville, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.
  4. Caleb Wheat, 40499 Paula Beth Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, DWI 1st Offense, Reckless Operation, Hit and Run Driving, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long and Robin O’Bannon. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

Assumption Parish:

  1. On January 6, 2020, Gage Dudek of 504 Walker Dr. Houma, LA., age 21, pled guilty to First Degree Vehicular Negligent Injuring, Driving Left of Center, Use of Certain Wireless Telecommunication Devices for Text Messaging Prohibited, and Vehicular Negligent Injuring (2 counts). Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On July 6, 2020, Dudek was sentenced to 6 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Emile St. Pierre.

St. James Parish:

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
