During the week of June 12-June 16, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Moses Diggs, 11232 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, Felony Theft, and Misdemeanor Theft. On the charges of Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and Felony Theft, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, and on the charge of Misdemeanor Theft, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. It was further ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  2. Cade Roddy, 17189 Trinidad Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (4 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to run concurrent with one another. It was ordered that the imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  3. Ben Beach, 16430 Pumpkin Ln. French Settlement, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Felony Theft and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  4. Jeremiah Bougere, 2385 Project Dr. Vacherie, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Simple Criminal Damage to Property (Felony) and Simple Battery. On the charge of Simple Criminal Damage to Property, the defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. On the charge of Simple Battery, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served, to be suspended. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 
  5. Ashley Emerson, 11273 Emerson Rd. Geismar, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Theft of Goods and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 
  6. Armease Washington, 37313 Hwy 74 Geismar, LA., age 26, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  7. Tramakker Williams, 1123 N Chataignier St. Ville Platte, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 7 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Michelle Shelton. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. 

  1. Taylor Beeman, 37545 New River Canal Rd. Geismar, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Forgery, Bank Fraud, and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. On the charges of Forgery and Bank Fraud, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation on each count. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. 
  2. Brianna Ferrygood, Lutcher, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Theft Valued over $750 and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  3. Megan Hale, 8155 Jefferson Hwy Prairieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Felony Theft and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  4. Stephen Kennedy, 10550 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Simple Burglary, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation on each count. 
  5. Dominque Taylor, 7733 Maribel Ct. Baton Rouge, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Felony Theft and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. 

Assumption Parish: 

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week. 

St. James Parish: 

  1. David Barraco, 38038 Bayou Meadow St. Gonzales, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.
