SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of March 22 – March 26, 2021, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. James Campbell, 16475 Homestead Lane Prairieville, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Fire Raising in a Correctional Facility and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  2. Joseph Stonkus, 40313 Jack LeBlanc Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 50, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Tray Harris, 915 W Tony St. Gonzales, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Cory Johnsen, 45179 Stringer Bridge Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Auto Burglary and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Cody Martin.

 Assumption Parish:

  1. Edd Delatte, 13086 Ash Lane St. Amant, LA., age 53, pled guilty to Obstruction of Justice, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts), and Resisting a Police Officer with Force or Violence. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Chad Aucoin, 132 Birch St. Labadieville, LA., age 51, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Resisting a Police Officer with Force or Violence. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Jeramie Butler, 130 Maple St. Labadieville, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The defendant is to serve 2 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 3 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  4. Alfred Batiste Jr., 209 Sparrow St. Labadieville, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Simple Arson and Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  5. Randall Theriot, 322 N Shell Beach Rd. Pierre Part, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.     

  1. Reshide Wooden, 302 Mulberry St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  2. Keith Nailer, 314 Williams St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

St. James Parish:
