SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of May 7-May 11, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Sylvia Archer, 15052 Clinton Smiley Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 62, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Nicholas Allen, 4201 Florida St. Zachary, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Resisting an Officer, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Daniel Galindo, 1921 S Gaudin Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended and placed on 24 months supervised probation.
  4. Len Ray Davis, 15270 Roy Rogers Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 51, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  5. Emmanuel Castillo, 43258 Norwood Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  6. Edward Oscar Smith III, 41356 Cemetery Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  7. Patrick Alsay, 1020 Peytavin St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to a total of 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long and Robin O’Bannon. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

 

Assumption Parish:

  1. Jacy Capello Naquin, 213 W 4th St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Wendy Landry, 660 Belle River Rd. Pierre Part, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  3. Demetric Nelson Jr., 111 Violet St. Thibodaux, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc. 

 

St. James Parish:

  1. Lavern Leblanc, 1335 North Airline Hwy Gramercy, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.
