During the week of November 13-November 17, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. David Marshall, 15355 Forest Oak St. Prairieville, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Richard Gauthier, 307 Bourg St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Myrtle Brown, 1605 South Augusta Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of an Access Card and Theft Valued Over $5,000, but Less than $25,000. The defendant was sentenced to 3 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to run concurrent with one another.
  4. Keylon Barrow, 1125 Sheena St. Gonzales, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years unsupervised probation.
  5. Aaron Carter, 11607 Gurney Rd. Baker, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.
  6. On June 27, 2017, Erik Mollerberg of 18274 Old Jefferson Hwy Prairieville, LA., age 33, was found guilty by Judge Kliebert of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Simple Criminal Damage to Property Over $500. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On November 13, 2017, Judge Kliebert sentenced the defendant to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. In lieu of incarceration, Mollerberg is allowed to serve 18 months on home incarceration and be monitored by Louisiana Probation and Parole.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Shawn Bush and Phil Maples. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. 

  1. Louvenia Allen, 7636 Pennhill Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to run concurrent with one another. The said sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  2. Kevin Landry Jr., 1511 Loretta St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.
  3. Cornell Carter, 105 Massey Lane Belle Rose, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  4. Keenen Johnson, 7123 Silverleaf Ave. Baton Rouge, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  5. Thomas Dukes, 41028 Rustling Oak Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 66, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long, Lindsey Manda, and Robin O’Bannon. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

  1. Joshua Bowen, 705 Breaux Dr. Laplace, LA., age 22, pled guilty to Theft Over $5,000 but Less than $25,000 and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. In addition, the defendant is to pay restitution in the amount of $6,000.
  2. Damian Belle, 39061 Pluto Ave. Darrow, LA., age 33, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  3. Robert Foster, Baton Rouge, LA., age 51, pled guilty to Felony Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  4. Legistine North, 915 Elizabeth St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Auto Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Danyell Paul, 3985 Ozark St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Theft of Goods Valued at $1500 or More and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Devin Walker, 207 Bunn St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 1 year in the parish jail with credit for time served.
  7. Terrell Converse, 116 Oak Ridge Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  8. Robert Gonzales, 12251 Deck Blvd. Geismar, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Attempted Manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the defendant is to serve 1 year of the said sentence, and the remaining 14 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation and pay restitution in the amount of $5,000.
  9. Brandy Forsyth, 5166 Wildwood Dr. Sorrento, LA., age 41, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  10. Travis Foster, 301 W 8th St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  11. Horace Jordan, 104 Troy St. Slidell, LA., age 46, pled guilty to Bank Fraud and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. In addition, the defendant is to pay restitution in the amount of $2,044.
  12. Donald Nicholas, 1301 St. Vincent St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish:

  1. Shamar Harris, 1281 Magnolia Hts. Vacherie, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Illegal Use of Weapons and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. On the charge of Illegal Use of Weapons, the defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the defendant is to serve 2 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 3 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Ray Woodly, 212 S Hickory St. Gramercy, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
