SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 17-October 21, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James

Ascension Parish:

  1. Thomas Dupre III, 44401 Kaytain Crossing St. Sorrento, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  2. Brandon Lee, 16462 Jay Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to 2 counts of Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  3. Jessie Melancon, 43333 Willie Bell Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 27, pled guilty to 2 counts of Simple Cruelty to Animals and was sentenced to 6 months on each count with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run consecutive to one another.

 The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

  1. Dwayne Moinot, 41099 Catherine Burns Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and Illegal Possession of Stolen Thing. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections at hard labor with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  2. Brittany Smith, 41099 Catherine Burns Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and was sentenced to 4 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.  
  3. Tyler Hilbun, 37627 Seven Oaks Ave. Prairieville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  4. Brayden Marchand, 11425 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 17, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or More but Less Than $5000 and Simple Burglary. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections at hard labor with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation. 
  5. Phillip Rome, 7200 Cypress Lake Baton Rouge, LA., age 25, pled guilty to 2 counts of Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections at hard labor with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. It was ordered that the first 5 years of the imposed sentence is to be served, and the remaining 5 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.  
  6. Luke Steger, 122 Villere Dr. Destrehan, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  7. Myron Turner, 1541 Woodlore Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 17, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  8. Jarod White, 511 E Chuck St. Gonzales, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Second Degree Cruelty to Juveniles and was sentenced to 18 months at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  9. Matthew Morris, 17177 Penn Blvd. Gonzales, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Terrorizing and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections at hard labor with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Shawn Bush. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Crystal Berthelot, 15432 Ryan Ave. Prairieville, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.  
  2. Christy Comeaux, 203 Hwy 998 Belle Rose, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. 

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

St. James Parish:

  1. Rydell Harry, 19391 Harrytown St. Vacherie, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Felony Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  2. Travaughn Johnson, 229 South Airline Ave. Gramercy, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 2 years of the imposed sentence are to be suspended, and the defendant must serve the remaining 3 years. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  3. Billy Moore, 2432 N Courseault St. Lutcher, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 4 years of the imposed sentence are to be served, and the remaining 3 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  4. Russell Smalley, 538 Clear Creek Rd. Ackron AL., age 51, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  5. Louis Williams, 3610 Hwy 44 Paulina, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
