SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the weeks of September 18-September 22, 2017 and September 25-September 29, 2017 the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Taylor Watts, 10624 Shermoor Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation on each count. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  2. Tyler Dauzat, 42553 Hwy 42 Prairieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Cruelty to Juveniles and was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the imposed sentence is to be served, and the remaining 9 are to be suspended. It was further ordered that upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  3. Landon Marsh, 6937 W Hwy 190 Port Allen, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joni Buquoi, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc. 

 

  1. Travis Guist, 4333 Willie Bell Rd. St Amant, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Mike McGill, 1509 42nd Ave. Gulfport, MS., age 41, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $1,000 but Less than $5,000 (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 5 ½ years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another.
  3. Nicholas Singleton, 1216 S Burnside Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 26, pled guilty to 3rd Degree Rape and was sentenced to 5 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was further ordered that the said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
  4. Cody Wascom, 918 Peytavin St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Montrell Harris, 35125 Wilma Ln. Donaldsonville, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 2 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Thomas LeBlanc, 42057 Moody Dixon Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 7 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Anthony Colla, 413 E Fifth St. McDonald, OH., age 26, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  8. Antonio Moor, 1349 N Toby Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 5 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  9. Denzel Glover, 37313 Hwy 74 Geismar, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Simple Burglary. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  10. David Williams, 3508 Shannon Dr. Chalmette, LA., age 20, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and Possession or Introduction of Contraband in a Penal Institution. On the charge of Simple Burglary, the defendant was sentenced to 42 months at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Possession or Introduction of Contraband in a Penal Institution, the defendant was sentenced to 12 months at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  11. Damien London, 14014 Felicity Dr. Baker, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Home Invasion. On the charge of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Home Invasion, the defendant was sentenced to 15 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended. It was further ordered that the imposed sentences are to run consecutively to one another. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.

  1. Shannon Cummings, 18369 Eidon St. Prairieville, LA., age 39, pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  2. Tammy Mclin, 18870 Jefferson Hwy Baton Rouge, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Theft Valued Over $5,000, but Less than $25,000. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Oscar Vasquez, 40400 Rhonda Ave. Prairieville, LA., age 51, pled guilty to Aggravated Crimes Against Nature (2 counts). Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Joe Alaniz Jr., 117 Agnes St. Pierre Part, LA., age 58, pled guilty to Sexual Battery and was sentenced to 4 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to register and notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator.
  2. Spencer Converse, 171 Hwy 401 Napoleonville, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Attempted 2nd Degree Battery (3 counts) and was sentenced to 3 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count to run concurrent with one another. It was ordered that the defendant is to serve 1 year of the said sentence, and the remaining 2 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  3. Brian Metrejean, 131 Stafford Ct. Pierre Part, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  4. Donald Herbert, 165 Hwy 1003 Belle Rose, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  5. Kentrell Jupiter, 101 West Avenue Napoleonville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years, 2 months, and 1 day with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

  1. Thomas Cook, 109 Park Dr. Thibodaux, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to run concurrent with one another.
  2. Cohnor Gray, 221 Hwy 998 Belle Rose, LA., age 18, pled guilty to 1st Degree Robbery and was sentenced to 4 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that the imposed sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

St. James Parish: 

  1. Amber Champagne, 1726 Bay Tree St. Lutcher, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
