On Friday, an Ascension Parish jury found 56-year-old Reggie Holland of Geismar, LA guilty of Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Second Degree Sexual Battery, and False Imprisonment While Armed with a Dangerous Weapon. This guilty verdict comes following a 2024 arrest. Holland was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Leila Braswell, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Keyojuan Turner.
On February 8, 2024, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Geismar business in reference to a domestic violence related incident. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a female victim who was covered in blood and had injuries consistent with being severely beaten. Deputies learned that the victim was involved in a verbal argument with her boyfriend, Reggie Holland, the night before. Following the argument, Holland proceeded to batter the victim with multiple items including a lamp and a wrench, before sexually assaulting her. Holland struck the victim on her feet with a wrench to stop her from escaping. Holland continued to beat the victim throughout the night. The victim was ultimately able to escape and walk to a nearby business for help. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for severe injuries. Reggie Holland was ultimately arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Upon the jury returning a guilty verdict in this matter, sentencing was deferred to a later date. Sentencing is tentatively set for August 18, 2026. Reggie Holland remains incarcerated awaiting sentencing. Holland faces decades in state prison.
