Geismar Man Sentenced to 3 Years After Failing to Meet Sex Offender Registration

          On May 14, 2018, Calvin Fisher of 11081 Conner Rd. Geismar, LA., age 33, pled guilty to the charge of Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator. Fisher was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joni Buquoi, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors after Fisher failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements. 

          On November 6, 2017, detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant of arrest for Calvin Fisher, a registered sex offender, after Fisher moved into Ascension Parish and failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements. Detectives attempted to locate Fisher at his reported residence and job, but was unsuccessful. On February 12, 2018, Fisher was apprehended by authorities and booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center. In 2006, Fisher pled guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile in East Baton Rouge Parish.  

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Fisher was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
