Gonzales Man Pleads Guilty to Carnal Knowledge Charge

On June 13, 2016, Noel Williams Jr. of 1411 W. Sidney St. Gonzales, age 26, pled guilty to one count of Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. Williams entered this plea after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors one day prior to his scheduled trial date. Williams was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joni Buquoi. The presiding judge over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

On October 27, 2015, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a Donaldsonville residence regarding a report of a runaway juvenile. Upon arrival deputies made contact with the mother of a 13 year old juvenile female. Deputies learned that the juvenile was seen leaving the area in a dark colored four door sedan. Deputies located a vehicle matching this description nearby and initiated a traffic stop. The juvenile was located in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Noel Williams Jr. Through investigation, it was learned that Williams and the juvenile had engaged in sexual intercourse just prior to making contact with deputies. Williams was 25 years of age at the time of this incident. Williams was booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center.

Following this guilty plea, Williams was sentenced by Judge Verdigets to a period of 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. Upon release, Williams must also register as a sex offender for a period of 15 years.
